There are many different ways that life events might erode your resilience. Approaching healing solely from a cognitive perspective will limit your capacity to prevent repeating patterns that occur as a result of past trauma. I help support people as they move through the process of working through the impacts of trauma in their physical experience.

Ways of Working Together Using Somatic Experiencing
Movement and body-oriented therapeutic interventions to anxiety and other forms of freeze/dissociation
Post-trauma coaching
Concussion support and nervous system regulation
Chronic pain and auto-immune support through neuro-behavioural interventions
An SE session may involve conversation, tracking of physical sensation, movement and in some instances, touch work (with client’s permission). The intention is to move slowly, and when conversation is involved, to integrate the physical experience with the cognitive, in order to avoid re-traumatizing by telling the story over and over again.

My clients often speak about challenges in the present moment that are connected to past experiences of stress, complex/developmental trauma; grief & loss; power & control; anxiety & depression; difficult life transitions; and challenging relationships. By connecting with your inner wisdom and innate capacity for healing, we explore establishing greater nervous system regulation, reconnecting with a felt sense of safety, listening compassionately to sensations & emotions; deepening relationships; and, reconnecting with life energy, playfulness, and joy.

I believe that healing begins when clients feel safe, seen, and heard. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I also integrate Internal Family Systems-Informed (IFSCA), Narrative, and Attachment-focused principles to invite a compassionate, strengths-based, & trauma-informed perspective to individual and relationship counselling. I work collaboratively with you to explore what you bring into our conversations from a space of curiosity and compassion. We move at the pace that is right for your system, asking the question: what does my nervous system need at this moment?

I am honoured to support teens and adults on their journey to connect more deeply in relationship to themselves and others. I hold space for challenges that folks face in the present moment often connected to past experiences with stress, complex/developmental trauma; grief & loss; power & control; anxiety & depression; difficult life transitions; and challenging relationships.

Together, we explore: establishing a sense of safety, co-regulation and settling of the nervous system; listening compassionately to emotions; connecting with inner wisdom and the innate capacity we have for healing; deepening relationships; and, reconnecting to life energy, playfulness, and joy.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I integrate Internal Family Systems-Informed (IFSCA) and Attachment-focused principles to invite a compassionate, strengths-based, & resilience-promoting perspective to the folks with whom I share space.

I am also honoured to offer co-regulating touch / table work to folks healing from complex and developmental trauma. This is a holistic body/mind method that addresses ways in which emotional pain and stress are held in our bodies and supports the body to find support and settling. I have completed trainings in touch skills and developmental trauma with Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell and continue with ongoing coursework and supervision in this area.

To those of you pursuing SEP training, I am qualified to offer personal sessions at the beginner level. Please email me at mysacounselling@gmail.com for further information.

As we sit together, either virtually or in my workspace, I draw from my curiosity and compassion to hold space, explore, and co-create healing conversations with both body and mind.
